New obsessions

So last night I finally got to watch the movie Once (which just won an Academy Award for best song on Sunday). I loved it! At first watch, I thought it was cute and charming but as it sunk in, I started falling in love with it. I watched it again today with Sienna and while she was napping. I watched the extras and some commentary with the director and the 2 lead actors on a couple of the songs. I NEVER watch commentary! They will be at Radio City in May and I’m hoping to go. Now that they won an Oscar, they will be more popular than ever. Here’s the video of them performing the song at the Oscars Sundance (the Academy won’t let it be posted)! It’s a beautiful song!

Then on Sunday I finally got to meet eatsdirt aka Edwina who I “know” from flickr. She came over to take some vintage cameras off my hands. She was telling me about the “fight” between Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Conan O’Brien, which I haven’t seen. She sent me the link to her livejournal that posted the video. It was indeed a very funny video, as you can imagine with those 3 guys. But in looking at her other posts, it was this video that drew me!

Cracked me up!

Baden Baden

Last night we had a band meeting at Baden Baden, known for their fried chicken. It’s different because they take a whole rotisserie chicken and fry that. Quite delicious! We rounded off the meal with chopped steak and pig’s feet. We were all reluctant about the pig’s feet (except Joy) but when Joy explained it more to us, we figured we’d give it a try. It really isn’t as intimidating as it sounds and didn’t taste bad at all. It actually looks like something you’d get at a banquet dinner. I’m pretty sure it’s what it is! Tammy did not partake in the pig. She didn’t find it looked appetizing and didn’t want to risk throwing up! HAHA!

I apologize for the crappy pictures. I gotta remember to take the better camera for these food shots. Plus I’m so excited to dig in! And these pictures do not do the food justice!

The famous fried chicken
The chicken comes with a choice of fries or onion rings. We didn’t care what we got since it seems like an afterthought so Pete picked fries. I’m glad he did! They had a nice seasoning on them and were nice and crisp. There was also garlic cloves in there, I’m guessing fried with everything and it was yummy!!

I enjoyed the steak, it wasn’t overcooked although the sauce wasn’t really special.

Here’s the pig’s feet. See, doesn’t look so bad, right? We were originally thinking of the actual hooves. LOL!

Nobody touched the salad minus a tomato by Tammy. The white cubes are pickled radishes, which was quite good!

Tammy’s belly is full with more than just food! 😉

The funny and strange thing about the restaurant is the loud dance/hip hop music in there. We had to repeat ourselves a couple of times and try to talk over the music. They certainly didn’t rush us out of there after the dishes were cleared. I would go there again!

And on a totally unrelated note, when I was tooling around the city yesterday, I happen to walk down Broome Street in search of Papabubble to check out. I passed a building with a couple of cop cars outside and maybe about half a dozen or so paparazzi. This was probably between 4:30 and 5 pm.I wondered which celebrity they were stalking and was going to walk back down Broome toward Broadway but decided to be the jaded New Yorker and took another route on my way uptown. Turns out the building was where Heath Ledger lived and died. I was so shocked he died and saddened and now spooked out that I walked by the building his body was in!!

Weekend

We didn’t do much over the holiday weekend. 2 of the days were really cold. We’ve started the Let It Go project otherwise known as the Why Do We Still Have This? project. I joined a Brooklyn freecycle group on Yahoo and already got rid of, I mean, passed along my old Orange Handspring (still works!) and original Nintendo Game Boy with attachable light. There’s another boxful of stuff I need to list as well. It takes a little more effort for this but it feels good that someone else can use this stuff and not fill up the landfill.

I’m checking e-mail!
Sienna’s checking her e-mail!

That’s Neo!
That’s Neo!

Yo Yo Neo!
Yo Neo, what’s up! Want the snowman’s scarf?

That looks like fun!

It is fun!

Sienna had her 10 month check up last week and she grew an inch since her last check up at 8 months! It surprisd the doctor because he said usually by this time, they don’t grow much in length. She’s gonna be a tall baby!

GO Giants!

No words are needed for this picture!

Happy, Happy!

Happy 2008 everyone! We didn’t do any crazy celebrating, hell, we weren’t even awake when the ball dropped! I don’t mind really but I am looking forward to the time when Sienna is old enough to understand about New Year’s and have someone actually be excited about it! HA! I took this picture of Sienna yesterday and it just cracks me and Yves up!

Get this bow outta my hair!

The bow is from her cousins and I quickly put it on her just to see how she would look in it. She didn’t really like it but ‘posed’ for me while I took the picture. I really think she knows about the camera as a second before this shot, she was fussing with it!

This chair is also from her cousins and of course, she gives it a bite! She’s wearing a dress from her other cousin, Gaby.

Fun with Daddy

Fun playtime with Daddy. They are both back to their usual happy, playful self. It was nice having Yves home for 2+ weeks! It’s back to work for him today!

Babble rocks!

 cryfaceblog.jpg

Babble, a website/community for parents, totally rocks. This week alone there were two articles that I totally relate to and I thank the heavens I found this place. I practically cried out with a sigh of relief when I read Alone in a Crowd because that is me. Except for the part at the end. Sienna does get showered with attention when my friends are around but the problem is, they aren’t around that often! But that’s ok. It won’t be forever. And then today I read this one,  Read ‘Em and Weep. Yves noticeded that I haven’t been reading many books lately. I thought it was just because I don’t ride the train on a daily basis anymore, which is when I read. Now I basically stick to magazine articles and now I know why…I still have pregnancy brain! They say that won’t last either. That’s good to know!

Mosquitos are HELL!

satan is at coney island, originally uploaded by luluvision.

I wasn’t going to blog about this originally because, really, who wants to remember mosquito bites? But I decided to document this because this has happened to me before, maybe even last year, and always at a time when it shouldn’t happen so it’s least expected.

Yep, I got mosquito bites. Yep, its the end of October! There was a lone mosquito in our bedroom Friday nite. As usual, I was watching some TV in bed with the headphones on while Yves is snoring away beside me. I hear buzzing. I was annoyed but not overly pissed as I must have been delusional in thinking that I was going to make it through the night bite free. I decided to go to sleep. I wanted the night to be over as soon as possible.

I woke up about 2 hours later to more buzzing and an itchiness on my hand. GRRRR. That’s the 2nd worst place to get a bite, in my book, with the eyelid the first (yes, that has happened to me). I went to the bathroom for some cortizone. Yves was semi awake when I got back and I told him about the mosquito. He even heard it! I huddled under the covers as best I could. I was awoken every few hours that night with a few more bites. I think I got about 5. I was glad the night was over….but not the biting!!

Saturday afternoon me and Sienna were hanging out in the bedroom keeping Yves company while he covered up the AC for the winter. I realized I got bitten again! Then I noticed a welt on Sienna’s forehead! That bastard bit my baby!! I cursed the bugger and ran out of the room with Sienna. It was a crappy rainy day so we really didn’t venture out. Hence I might have gotten one or two more bites. And I do believe I heard it buzzy around Saturday nite too. I didn’t get as many bites because I was literally under the covers the whole night.

Sigh….that bastard has got to be dead now! It’s like 40 degress outside today!

Sienna-fest!

We finally got an umbrella stroller and I put it to use last week and went on the subway! woohoo! Those who know me know that riding the subway with Sienna is not my favorite thing. It’s part laziness (all the stuff to bring!) and part anxiousness (what if something happens and it’s just me and her!) But just like driving, the more I do it with her, the easier it will be. And this stroller makes it so easy because it is soooo light!! So we went to meet Diana and Dakota at Union Square last Thursday, had a Thai lunch and hung out in the park.

Sienna likes to reach for things and grab whatever she can get her hands on nowadays, including my necklace, my hair, Yves’ chest hair and glasses. We’re trying to teach her how to pet Skippy. It’s still a work in progress!

Over the weekend, we went into the city (yes, again! Can you believe it?) to Madison Square Park. They were having some kind of autumn celebration for kids. We mostly just hung out on the bench and listened to the kid’s band play.

And check it out! 2 of Yves’ pictures of Kagero made it onto a local magazine website and one on the cover of the actual mag! woohoo! The magazine is called 24 Seven. Click on the featured story “Asian fusion for the ear: Kagero rocks Brooklyn’s Bar 4” to see the other picture.

Thanks for following us over to the new blog location! I had trouble with one of the scripts in the Movable Type program and thought it would be fixed once I updated the program but I was still getting the same problem. So we are now using a new program that my web host supports so you should not be getting that terrible gray page that says my site has exceeded it’s CPU blah blah blah!

So I thought I would start the new version 2 with a cute picture of our sweetheart!
