More creativeness
I post more regularly on Instagram so trying to catch up on my creations posted to my blog!

I am a firm believer that art heals so it’s on to getting crafty! Here are some things I made in June.
More beaded crochet bracelets for a swap.
Getting back into mail art!
Teacher gift and thank you card for Sienna’s 1st grade teacher.
A knotted necklace made out of t-shirt material that I learned from watching Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin on Creativebug. Doesn’t look nearly as good as her examples! And the pendant is a washer painted with some Pebeo paint and resin to coat, with a bail I made from wire.
I haven’t done much updating with my blog lately. Mainly because I was in the process of moving webhosts and wanted to do that before adding more content. There was a bit of a rough patch with the move (mainly with WP) and am now happy to say that everything has worked out! Keeping fingers crossed that they stay that way! So as the title of this post says, here is a crafty megaload! Not posted in chronological order but all done this year. If you follow my flickr/instagram, some of these projects will look familiar. I won’t say that I will try to keep more updated as that is always my intention! LOL
Before I get to the 2nd challenge for Iron Craft 2014, here are one set of earrings I finally finished from the first challenge!
I added some swarovski crystals and they have a nice sparkle. It’s too bad the photo can’t really show the opalescent sheen from the paint. The paint, btw, is Pebeo Fantasy Moon paints in Metal Blue. I really like these paints, especially in combination with other colors. I’ll post some of what I did with them in another post.
Now on to the 2nd challenge! Get It Together! As you can guess, about organizing. I am constantly trying to organize and keep organized. If you know me, you know it is not easy! I tease hubby about his endless lists but now I have started doing lists too and yes, it is very helpful! One of the problems for me is if it is out of sight, it is out of mind. And with all the craft supplies I have, it is hard to keep it organized and know what I have! Sigh…constant battle!
Anyway, a lot of my craft supplies is in my studio (the extra bedroom) but it does make it out to other areas of the house, much to Yves’ dismay. He has the closet in the bedroom for his clothes but a few of my (and Sienna’s too!) supplies take up the big shelf. He decided to just give over the whole closet to me (to be fair, it’s not a very big closet considering it’s in the master bedroom!) and get a wardrobe/armoire type thing to put in the corner of the bedroom. We are still waiting for it to arrive and to make room, our 4 drawer metal file cabinet is going to move into the studio (big purging of papers in there!) and 3 of the 4 drawers will hold craft supplies! My jewelry box sat on top of the file cabinet and now that it’s going to move into the closet of my studio, I wanted to rethink how to store my bracelets and pendants. My earrings were already hanging up as seen here. Being able to see all my earrings is so helpful so I thought I would make a hanging jewelry organizer to be able to see the rest of my jewelry! I pinned 2 tutorials to get ideas but really just sort of winged it. I am so proud to say that I made it in ONE day!! I started it in the morning and finished it up after dinner LAST WEEK!! Can you believe it? Me? The procrastinator?! I was really revved up with the idea and knew I had to finish it that day as who knows how long it would have sat, half finished, otherwise? And here is my pride and joy!
Originally, I was thinking of making it double sided but after starting, realized that I would be making it harder on myself to do that. It wasn’t very hard at all but the vinyl definitely proved the most challenging even though I used a teflon foot! Here’s some photos to show my process. The fabric I used is a heavier weight cotton that a friend gave to me when she moved and unloaded all her crafty good intentions on me. It has been in my stash at least 3 years!
I have joined Iron Craft 2014 and the first challenge is leather or crystal. I have chosen to do leather. I have had this noodle bead bracelet tutorial on my Pinterest board for 51 weeks! Who knows when I bought the materials for it but I finally decided to do something about it! It really was easy peasy and the most difficult part about it was waiting for the glue to dry on each end cap and to be safe, I let each end dry overnight. I used black and silver leather cord and also hematite and silver noodle beads. I like it!
While technically, I did not make this next bracelet for this challenge, I did fix it!I made this last year sometime, maybe even a little over a year ago, and I only got to wear it once or twice before the thread came loose. Thankfully, the whole thing did not fall apart as it was just the end part where I guess I did not tie it tight enough. It sat in my jewelry box waiting to be fixed. It finally saw the light of day when I was working on the noodle bead bracelet. Yves got me these sexy visors for Christmas:
Ok, so I was going to call it a day with this challenge but then I remembered my old leather shoes.
My beloved Danskos that I practically wore almost everyday for a year and a half. Supposedly, they are supposed to last longer than that but maybe I have weird feet. I realized that they just couldn’t be fixed and finally let them go. One foot had a split on the side and the other had a crack on the bottom.
Instead of throwing them away, I decided I wanted to make them into something else but they sat for months and months…Until this challenge, well, challenged me!! I decided to cut them up and make earrings out of them. They have been granted an afterlife.
Sienna got a few more gifts but I didn’t want to overdo the post with photos of her and her presents! LOL! As usual, a wonderful day filled with family, friends and great food and wine!
Just a little sad that the holidays are over. Sometimes I do stress to get everything done but in the end, I always enjoy this time of year as everyone and everything is so festive. We ended up not doing the house lights this year OR seeing the Rockefeller Tree but that is ok. I am happy just being able to be with our friends and family.
I’ve been doing a lot of posts of family events and not much posting of my creations. I have been creating! Here are some of the things I’ve done. More to come!
Yves bought me a heat press for my birthday back in July. A complete surprise! I love to make t-shirts for friends and have sort of complained that using an iron is not practical when you want to make a bunch. Opening up an Etsy shop has been on my list of things to do for ages. While I am still not there yet, I am getting closer. More on that further down! Some of the fun things I’ve made using the heat press. Once I got over the initial fear of it’s heat inducing powers, it is super easy and fun!
I also offered these floating frames. They look so pretty in real life. It’s hard to take a decent photo!
More creations to come!
So Sienna announced pretty early on that she wanted to be Bubbles (Powerpuff Girl) for Halloween. I attempted to make a wig for her out of yellow yarn. Evidence:
I didn’t like how it came out and knew she wouldn’t be able to keep it on so convinced her to be Buttercup instead. Much better!
This was just a tester for the outfit and the make up. I had planned to do a better make up job on Halloween. Turns out that on Halloween, she didn’t want me to do her eyes at all! Sad face! She was afraid her classmates would laugh at her. Double sad face! I did get to do her “bangs.” Her school has a Halloween parade every year but since it was a bit drizzly, they had it in the auditorium. Not as much fun but whatever!
Then trick or treating!
Then to cap the night off, we had dinner at Longbow Pub in Bay Ridge! Sienna made out pretty good with the candy!
